Ziplining is a must-do activity when planning a vacation to Costa Rica! Monteverde is located at a high elevation and is an amazing location to zipline in Costa Rica above the rainforest. When you do a zipline tour in Monteverde, you’ll truly feel like you’re in another world entirely above the clouds!

Ziplining in Monteverde Leaderboard
Short on time? Check out my top picks for ziplining in Monteverde!
- Most affordable: All the zipline tours in Monteverde are similarly priced, but 100% Aventura and Extremo Park tie for the cheapest tours at $67 per person.
- Longest Zipline: 100% Aventura is the park with the longest zipline cable not only in Monteverde, but they boast it’s the longest in all of Latin America at 1590 meters (close to 1 mile!).
- Best Views: Selvatura Park is known for amazing views from its zipline but you can also check out the view from the famous suspension bridges located inside the park, the tallest of which is about 180 feet from the forest floor.
- Most Adrenaline: Extremo Park is the best zipline tour in Monteverde if you’re an adrenaline junkie. In addition to their zipline, they also have the option to do a bungee jump, superman cables (in the face-down position like Superman), and rappelling.
- Best for the whole family: Treetopia Park (formerly known as Sky Adventures) is a good choice for families with children and the elderly. If the zipline feels too intimidating, there is an option to see the rainforest from high above in their cable car.
My Personal Favorite Zipline Tour in Monteverde!
I’m biased because I met my husband here, but I think you’ll get the most value at 100% Aventura Park if you only want to zipline. The guides are well-trained, the management team prioritizes safety, and the views are simply incredible!
Best Zipline Tours in Monteverde (The Detailed Guide!)
Okay, now let’s dive into all the details! You do not want to miss these adventures!
1. 100% Aventura
Price: $67.80 for adults, $56.50 for children (ages 6-12) | Length of Tour: 3 hours | Tour Times: 8 AM, 11 AM and 2 PM | Number of Ziplines: 9 regular zip lines, 2 Superman ziplines (in face-down position), 1 rappel, and 1 Tarzan swing |
The tour at Aventura Park begins with a safety demonstration. Then, the guides will lead you to the first “practice cable” where you’ll try a very short zipline to feel comfortable. Then the cables increase in length from there and you’ll experience the feeling of flying above the rainforest.
When you reach the rappel, the guides will check in with you to see how you are feeling. If you’re comfortable so far, they’ll prepare you to advance to the longer cables. Otherwise, turn back now because the zipline cables from here on increase in length, with the longest being approximately 1 mile!
At the end of the tour, there is a Tarzan Mega Swing where you can choose to jump from a high platform and swing from a rope above the trees. I’ll be honest that screamed the whole way down!
It’s important to know, they will discourage you from doing the Tarzan swing if you have back, neck, or heart problems.
Getting there:
The zipline park is too far to walk from the town of Monteverde/Santa Elena. You can drive to 100% Aventura by putting the name of the park into either Google Maps or Waze. The park can also help arrange pickup from Santa Elena or Monteverde if you contact them via WhatsApp at +506 2645-6388
How to Book:
Book online on their website or Viator (with free cancellation up to 24 hours before ziplining!)
2. Selvatura Park
Price: $77.79 for adults, $54.24 for children (ages 4-12) | Length of Tour: 2.5 hours | Tour Times: 8:30 AM, 11 AM, 1 PM, and 2:30 PM | Number of Ziplines: 13 regular cables and 1 Tarzan swing |
It’s hard to come to Selvatura Park and only do the zipline. It is a great park to plan to spend the entire day. In addition to their zipline tour, Selvatura Park has butterfly gardens, a sloth sanatorium, and impressive suspension bridges (here’s the link to the combo tour!). There is also a restaurant on-site where you can eat lunch or grab coffee.
Since there is so much to do at Selvatura Park aside from the zipline it can be a busy park. I’d pick a different park if you only want a zipline tour and nothing else, but if you want to spend an entire day above the clouds, you will love Selvatura Park!
Getting there:
Drive to Selvatura Park by searching on Google Maps or Waze. Parking is free! They can also help arrange transport from Santa Elena or Monteverde if you contact them via WhatsApp at +506 4001-7895 or toll-free US/Canada at 1 (800) 771-1803
How to Book:
Book online at their website or Viator (free cancellation up to 24 hours before)
3. Treetopia
Price: $94.92 for adults, $76.84 for children (ages 5-12) | Length of Tour: 2.5 hours | Tour Times: Tours are available every hour from 7 am to 3 pm | Number of Ziplines: 7 ziplines spanning 1.9 miles |
Treetopia offers the unique experience of starting your tour off by riding in a cable car above the rainforest. This is the only zipline tour in Monteverde that offers a ride in a cable car to reach the start of the tour.
Treetopia is a great zipline tour to choose if you’re traveling with children or someone elderly. There is no hiking required for the tour and they use a braking system to help you slow down when you get to the end of the cable (most of the other tours have you break yourself).
Aside from the zipline tour, at Treetopia you can also zipline bike, jump from a Tarzan Swing, or do their tree climbing challenge course. After, you can go to the restaurant at the park to get lunch or take a rest between activities.
Getting there:
You can find directions to Treetopia Park on Google Maps or Waze. A shuttle service from Monteverde/Santa Elena is not included in the price but can be arranged for $10 per person roundtrip. Contact them by WhatsApp at +506 4000-7292
How to Book:
Book online at their website!
4. Extremo Park
Price: $67.80 per person | Length of Tour: 3 hours | Tour Times: 8 AM, 11 AM, and 2 PM | Number of Ziplines: 11 cables including two Superman cables, and a 50-meter Tarzan Swing |
Extremo Park, true to its name, is the place to come if you’re interested in extreme adventure. One of the Superman cables goes through an underground tunnel and their Tarzan Swing is the highest of any park in Monteverde at 50 meters (almost 165 feet).
In addition to the zipline, Extremo Park offers a 143-meter high bungee jump (that’s about 470 feet), horseback riding, and “super swing” 100 meters high. It’s fair to say Extremo Park is not for the weak at heart!
Getting there:
There is free parking on site or contact the park at +506 4001-8295 or through their website to arrange a ride from Santa Elena.
How to Book:
Book online at their website or Viator (for free cancellation!)
What to Know Before Ziplining in Monteverde
- You’ll get the most clear views on your zipline tour in Monteverde in the morning and during the dry season (December-April) During the rainy season, all bets are off, so bring some rain gear if you’d prefer not to get wet! They won’t cancel a tour just because of the rain.
- Tours may be canceled for weather that includes high winds or lightning storms. Be sure to check with the tour guide company you’re booked with if you’re concerned the weather might affect your tour.
- It’s a good idea to wear lightweight athletic clothing, a rain jacket, and closed-toe shoes. They will provide you with a locker to put anything you don’t want to have on your person during the tour.
SO, which tour should you pick?!
At the end of the day, the zipline tour in Monteverde you choose will completely depend on what works best for your family, schedule, budget, and personal taste for adventure.
I recommend 100% Aventura as the best tour if you’re only interested in ziplining, Selvatura Park if you have a comfortable budget and want to make a day of it, Treetopia for families traveling with younger children or elderly adults, and Extremo Park if you’re an adrenaline junkie.
